Blinn College Trustees Approve Three Items Involving Its RELLIS Campus Location

New offices for Blinn College faculty at the RELLIS campus will cost more than budgeted.

Blinn trustees approved the lowest bid of five companies interested in the renovation of an existing building. The $792,000 dollar contract is $219,000 over budget. The renovation is scheduled to start next month and be completed in June.

Two other items involving Blinn’s RELLIS location were also approved. One is seeking bids to add parking and improve drainage next to the new Schwartz classroom building. The projected cost is $680,000 dollars.

And Blinn is moving some workforce training to RELLIS. That’s after trustees approved the administration’s request to negotiate a lease for 24 thousand square feet of space owned by the Texas A&M system. That will lead to an expansion of Blinn’s electrical, plumbing, HVAC, welding, and CNC programs.

Funding for all three RELLIS projects will come from bonds that Blinn trustees issued in 2016.
