The Bryan city council, acting as the city’s commerce and development board, purchases a house next to the Phillips Events Center.

Mayor Bobby Gutierrez told listeners on WTAW’s The Infomaniacs that it was not a hostile takeover.

The home, at 2001 Quail Hollow, is next to tennis courts and the main entrance to the events center and municipal golf course.

Gutierrez says no specific purpose has been identified for the property.

The purchase price was $370,000 dollars.
