AUSTIN, Texas (AP) _ An Austin woman has been indicted for allegedly putting human feces in her 3-year-old daughter’s intravenous feeding line at a hospital.
Emily Beth McDonald faces up to life in prison after a Travis County grand jury indicted her Monday on a felony charge of injury to a child. Authorities say the 23-year-old was caught on camera contaminating a tube May 31.
An affidavit says the chronically ill girl was admitted to Dell Children’s Medical Center on April 15. A camera was installed in her room over concerns about her condition and repeated problems with IV tubes.
McDonald is free on bond but isn’t allowed to see her three children.
Bob Phillips, McDonald’s attorney, said Tuesday he looks forward to presenting her side of the story.
