Texas A&M Equestrian Falls to Auburn in SEC Championship Final

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – No. 3-seed Texas A&M Equestrian fell to No. 1-seed Auburn, 11-6, in the SEC Championship final Saturday at the Hildebrand Equine Complex.

In the meet’s first event, Equitation over Fences, senior Rebekah Chenelle tallied the lone point for the Aggies (10-5) with a 268-253 victory over McKayla Langmeier. For her efforts, Chenelle was named Most Outstanding Player (MOP) and was also named to the All-Championship Team.

Ashley Davidson secured the first point for Texas A&M in Horsemanship as she defeated Deanna Green, 219.5-198. Ashley Sioco closed out the event with a 216-211.5 victory over Kelsey Jung.

After Rhian Murphy and Caroline Dance secured ties in Equitation on the Flat, the Aggies won Reining, 3-2. Kalee McCann toppled Betsy Brown, 210.5-208.5, before Courtney Yohey knocked off Blair McFarlin, 208.5-205.5. Darby Gardner defeated Ali Fratessa, 206-172, to conclude scoring.

The Aggies return to action April 17-20 at the NCEA Championships in Waco, Texas.
