College Station City Council Awards A Water Well Construction Contract And Agrees To Discuss Merging With Other Local Water Providers

A College Station city councilman opens the door to the idea of possible merger talks with nearby water providers.

Bob Yancy raised the subject during the last council meeting (March 26) during discussion before a unanimous vote to award a $28 million dollar contract to drill three water wells.

At the end of the council meeting, Yancy gets support to discuss at a future meeting, the possible merger of water providers.

The water well construction contract also includes more than two miles of water lines between the three new wells and the line that will go to the city’s existing distribution line.

The $28 million construction contract is part of an overall project budget of more than $70 million dollars.

The project began last year and must be completed by August of 2028.
