A Bryan man who admitted to kidnapping a College Station woman last year is now appealing the plea agreement he made with the Brazos County district attorney’s office. According to online court records, 23 year old Deondre Stepney wants probation with no prison time. Punishment calls for serving at least six months in prison in what’s called shock probation. If that is successfully done, Stepney can receive five years probation from the rest of his ten year prison sentence. He was also ordered to serve 200 hours community service. According to the College Station police arrest report, the victim told officers Stepney struck her approximately ten times, then took her and their eight month old daughter against their will to Central Park…where he threatened to drown them in the lake. Ten feet away from the lake, the victim said Stepney started crying, apologized, and took them to his sister’s house.

A month ago, a Brazos County district court jury spent about one hour to find a Bryan man guilty of indecent sexual contact with a ten year old girl. Punishment for 28 year old Joshua Figures was set last Friday at 38 years for the crime that took place in February 2017. Figures, who has been in jail for more than two years, is awaiting another trial accusing him of aggravated sexual assault of another child that took place last year.
