Man Arrested in College Station With Nearly 39 Grams of Methamphetamine
A man was arrested on multiple charges after police found nearly 39 grams of methamphetamine inside his vehicle. The College Station Police Department responded to a call in the 800 block of Spring Loop after receiving a report of a man asleep in the driver’s seat of a vehicle that was running, and in reverse. When officers contacted 25-year-old Charles Ray Archie, III of Spring, they reported smelling marijuana coming from the vehicle. A probable cause search revealed 2.3 grams of marijuana and approximately 230 pills of methamphetamine weighing in at 38.8 grams. Archie was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance 4-200 grams, Possession of Marijuana less than 2 ounces, and Interference with Public Duties. The man also had an active motion-to-revoke warrant out of Harris County for evading arrest with a motor vehicle. He is being held at the Brazos County Jail on $43,000 bond.
Electrical Fire Saturday Morning at Texas A&M Students Services Building
Just as Howdy Week is kicking off, the Texas A&M Office of Student Life is looking for a new home. According to The Battalion, an electrical fire broke out just after 9:00am at the Student Services Building (SSB). Additional services in the SSB are Residence Life, Disability Resources, and Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS). Reports say no one was injured and the building will be closed for several weeks.
College Station Man Arrested After Assaulting Pregnant Wife
A College Station man is jailed after allegedly assaulting his pregnant wife. The woman claims 33- year-old Christopher Aversa punched her in the head and headbutted her during an argument at their home. She claims an argument began after receiving a text message from a friend. Aversa became upset and took her cellphone. When she asked him to return her cellphone, he allegedly punched her in the back of the head with a closed fist. She then fell forward onto a sconce, injuring her ribs. She told investigators that Aversa became even more angry, and grabbed her head with both hands and headbutted her in the forehead. Officers observed an approximately one-inch area of dark red bruising on her ribs, along with swelling around her forehead and temples. Hospital records say the woman suffered a concussion and bruised ribs. They did not take X-rays because she is 12 weeks pregnant. She was released from the hospital after being checked out my the emergency department. Aversa was charged with assault of a pregnant person and is being held on $15,000 bond.
