Man Arrested in College Station With Nearly 39 Grams of Methamphetamine

A man was arrested on multiple charges after police found nearly 39 grams of methamphetamine inside his vehicle. The College Station Police Department responded to a call in the 800 block of Spring Loop after receiving a report of a man asleep in the driver’s seat of a vehicle that was running, and in reverse. When officers contacted 25-year-old Charles Ray Archie, III of Spring, they reported smelling marijuana coming from the vehicle. A probable cause search revealed 2.3 grams of marijuana and approximately 230 pills of methamphetamine weighing in at 38.8 grams. Archie was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance 4-200 grams, Possession of Marijuana less than 2 ounces, and Interference with Public Duties. The man also had an active motion-to-revoke warrant out of Harris County for evading arrest with a motor vehicle. He is being held at the Brazos County Jail on $43,000 bond.

Electrical Fire Saturday Morning at Texas A&M Students Services Building

Just as Howdy Week is kicking off, the Texas A&M Office of Student Life is looking for a new home. According to The Battalion, an electrical fire broke out just after 9:00am at the Student Services Building (SSB). Additional services in the SSB are Residence Life, Disability Resources, and Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS). Reports say no one was injured and the building will be closed for several weeks.

Eggs Sold At Kroger and Brookshire’s Grocery in Texas Recalled for Potential Salmonella

UPDATE (08/14/2026): On August 12, 2026, the FDA reclassified and upgraded this recall to “high risk.” This story was originally posted on July 23, 2026. Midwest Poultry Services, L.P. announced yesterday that it is voluntarily recalling 1,589,577 dozen white shell eggs and brown cage free shell eggs produced in Texas because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella Enteritidis. Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis. The eggs were produced and distributed from farms in Texas between June 6, 2026 and July 3, 2026, with sell by or best by dates between July 20, 2026 and August 17, 2026. The eggs were shipped to foodservice and retail customers in Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana. They were available to consumers at Kroger stores in Texas and Louisiana, Brookshire Grocery stores in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Mississippi, and other smaller retail outlets. No other Midwest Poultry Services, L.P. products are part of this recall. Midwest Poultry Services L.P. is not aware of any specific illnesses linked to its products. The recalled eggs will have an identifying code number printed on the left or right sides of the carton in date-coding ink only. Only codes P-1950 or 0840962 with a Julian Date between 157 and 184 printed on the side of the carton are recalled.
