College Station ISD School Board Buys Fencing And Other Security Purchases

New security fences are or will soon be installed around 11 College Station ISD campuses.

That’s after a nearly $1.8 million dollar contract was awarded during September’s CSISD school board meeting.

CSISD assistant superintendent Josh Symank says state money paid for the fences at six elementary schools (College Hills, Forest Ridge, Greens Prairie, Pebble Creek, River Bend, and Spring Creek), along with Oakwood intermediate school, Wellborn and Consolidated middle schools, and College View and College Station high schools.

Additionally, CSISD board members spent $166,000 dollars in safety grant money for ballistic shields and breaching tools at all 19 campuses.

And the board approved spending money from the Adam family grant and from the general fund to pay for $745,000 dollars of security guards who are at CSISD elementary and intermediate schools. The district pays for sheriff’s deputies at CSISD middle and high schools.
