The College Station city council awards a $5 million dollar construction contract to replace water and sewer lines in a portion of the Southgate neighborhood south of the Texas A&M campus.

Thursday night’s unanimous vote comes after city staff paused action last March due to the start of the pandemic.

After a second round of bids was taken, the city is saving at least $182,000 dollars compared with the first bids.

Construction of what’s called the Woodson Village rehabilitation project begins later this year.

This will affect Haines Drive, Glade Street, Dexter Drive, and Timm Drive.

After awarding the construction contract, that leaves $1.2 million dollars in the project budget.
