College Station Council Asked To Improve Turkey Creek And F&B Roads

The College Station city council is asked to work on a joint agreement to improve Turkey Creek and F&B Roads, which connects Easterwood Airport to and from biocorridor corporations, the Atlas Development, and The Traditions.

That request, made at the last council meeting, came during discussion leading to the council’s approval of rezoning land where more than 300 high end apartments will be built along Turkey Creek Road and south of HSC Parkway.

Access to the apartments will come from an extension of Atlas Pear Drive south of HSC Parkway.

Developer Spencer Clements and an executive at biocorridor corporation ViaSat, Don Gilman, were among those asking the council to pursue an interlocal agreement (ILA) with the city of Bryan, Brazos County, the Texas Department of Transportation, and Texas A&M.

The cities of College Station and Bryan have a biocorridor ILA. Turkey Creek Road is officially TxDOT farm to market road 2513. Texas A&M owns land along F&B Road.

A consulting engineer on the apartment project, Joe Schultz, told the council the city would receive around $280,000 dollars in transportation impact fees.

Construction of the apartments is expected to start next spring and be open in 2021.

The council voted 6-0 on the rezoning, with Barry Moore abstaining. That’s after the planning and zoning commission recommended approval by a 5-2 margin.
