College Station City Council Buys Land For A Seventh Fire Station

About a half mile south of Hullabaloo Diner on Wellborn Road, is land that is planned to be the location of College Station’s fire station number seven.

That’s after the city council approved spending $600,000 dollars for the four acre parcel that is in front of the new Wellborn Middle School.

The city’s current budget plan shows design work to start in fiscal year 2020 construction to start sometime in fiscal year 2021.

Interim city manager Jeff Capps, who discussed the project last October on WTAW’s The Infomaniacs, said the city also had the option of using nearly land the city currently owns.

Capps also talked last October about design options, including one idea that it would be a “rapid response” station to provide initial coverage.
