A Bryan man serving a state prison sentence for possessing marijuana in Grimes County, returns to Brazos County to plead guilty in two felony and two misdemeanor criminal cases.

Online records show a plea agreement was reached Wednesday (October 30) between 36 year old Jarieth Menchaca and the district attorney’s office.

Menchaca was sentenced to 20 years for an aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury that took place in February 2023, and for possessing three pounds of marijuana in a drug free zone in December 2020.

He pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of evading arrest and resisting arrest in December 2020 and misdemeanor possession of marijuana in July 2022.

All of this is in addition to the Grimes County conviction where Menchaca has started his third year of an 18 year sentence that began in October 2023 for felony possession of marijuana in 2020.
