The Bryan city council moves ahead with a nearly $2.7 million dollar project at Coulter Field airport.
There were no public comments before the council’s unanimous vote to creating more overnight parking for aircraft.
Background information from the city does not indicate the number of additional parking spaces.
But for the first time, there will be enough space for aircraft with two engines to park.
The city will pay ten percent of the design and construction cost and a state grant will cover the rest.
Construction is slated to start in the 2026 fiscal year.
Bryan mayor Bobby Gutierrez, speaking on WTAW’s The Infomaniacs, hopes to attract bigger jets that will lead to extending Coulter Field’s runway.
