Bryan City Council Closer to Adopting Commercial Building Color Restrictions

The city of Bryan is another step closer to restricting building colors on commercial buildings.

If approved, the exteriors of existing commercial buildings in Bryan with bright or fluorescent colors would be grandfathered but banned on new structures.

During the council’s last meeting, some expressed concern about painting designs. Councilman Mike Southerland was told by planner Michelle Audeneart the proposed regulations govern only color choices, not the design.

That led councilwoman Ann Horton to say she was concerned about commercial buildings painted in zebra stripes and polka dots.

Final action is tentatively set for February 28th and if that happens the new regulations take affect June 1st.
