The Bryan city council approves changing the city ordinance regulating park operations that will now allow for-profit organizations to stage events with permission.
The revised ordinance, which was unanimously adopted at the April 14th meeting without discussion, says the city council found that prohibiting for profits from operating in city parks limited the number and quality of activities available to city residents.
And the ordinance says this will offset or eliminate the city’s cost of maintaining parks.
Instead of for-profits asking the city council for permission, that authority now goes to the city manager.
