Entries Now Being Accepted For The City Of College Station’s Second Christmas Parade

Registration is now open for the city of College Station’s second Christmas parade. Details were shared in a recent blog post on the city’s website by the city’s university and community relations manager, Barbara Moore, and Grace Hallowell of the city’s communications office. This year’s parade is Saturday, December 7th. There is no change in the parade route, which will start from Post Oak Mall going west on Holleman, turn south on Dartmouth, then east on Krenek Tap to Central Park. The parade will start at four p.m., which is two hours later than last year to better time with the city’s “Lights On” ceremony at Central Park. Probation Violations Send Two Men To Prison For Crimes That Took Place In 2015 And 2017

A Bryan man arrested in March 2015 for DWI with two prior convictions was sentenced October 17th (2024) to prison. Court records show 54 year old Robert Gongora Sr. pleaded guilty in 2016 and was placed on ten years probation. After the judge granted the district attorney’s office motion to revoke probation, Gongora and prosecutors agreed to a prison sentence of two years with credit for time served. According to online records, Gongora could have already served five months based on the six times he has been in jail related to this case. Court records show Gongora violated probation for among other things, failing to complete requirements of the specialty drug and alcohol court and failing to be tested for alcohol and/or controlled substances. In July 2017, two years before the opening of the Southern Pointe residential community in south College Station, what was still the Texas World Speedway was the location of gunfire. This happened during a trail ride and campout at the former race track. In Brazos County district court on October 14th (2024), a Waller man was sentenced to three years in prison. 27 year old William Lamar Wagner admitted to shooting a man during an argument. Online court records show in June 2020, he was placed on four years probation. A spokeswoman in the district attorney’s office tells WTAW News that Wagner violated probation by using methamphetamine. The victim was treated in a College Station emergency room for a gunshot wound to his right shoulder.
