A former Brazos County deputy constable who was fired for not wearing a protective vest filed a claim against the county.
County commissioners earlier this month approved a settlement.
Assistant county attorney Bruce Erratt says the former deputy constable was seen on video without his vest during a large disturbance at a campout and trail ride at the former Texas World Speedway in July of 2017.
Erratt the county paid $30,000 thousand dollars. Most of that went to attorney’s fees.
