A 21-year-old man has been charged with intoxication assault after colliding with a man on a scooter early Saturday.
The man was thrown his scooter on Wellborn Road near Kyle Field just before 3:00am on Saturday, October 3, 2026.
College Station Police responded to reports of a major accident at the location. They found the victim was bleeding from his head.
Truman Wayne Davis was behind the wheel of a Toyota 4Runner. Arrest records say that while he was being interviewed, he was swaying and had slurred speech. He admitted to having three beers. Davis failed a field sobriety test.
Officers say the Veo scooter was well lit. Traffic camera footage shows that other vehicles passed the scooter without incident.
Reports say that officers believe a reasonable person would have seen and avoided the victim, but due to Davis’s impaired state, he did not see the motor vehicle on the roadway.
The victim is said to have suffered a skull fracture, brain bleed, possible carotid canal fracture, and was throwing up blood.
Davis was charged with Intoxication Assault With A Vehicle. Blood alcohol analysis results are pending. He is free on $30,000 bond.
