Arrest This Week Following A College Station Police Chase Before Christmas

A man was arrested at Saturday’s Texas A&M football game after police say he was inappropriately recording women with his cellphone. A Bryan police officer working an off-duty assignment on the third deck was approached by a woman who said she saw a man taking video up the skirt of another woman. Arrest records say police witnessed 61-year-old Manuel Salazar Ramirez raising his cellphone over his shoulder and pointing towards a woman standing on an elevated ramp. They made Ramirez show them his phone and they were able to identify the victim who said she wished to press charges. University Police confiscated his phone as evidence and arrested him for Invasive Visual Recording. He being held in the Brazos County Jail on $15,000 bond. This is Ramirez’s 26th booking into the jail. His previous arrests include public intoxication, burglary, possession of marijuana, and DWI.

A Bryan man was arrested for DWI after crashing his vehicle into a traffic pole. Arrest records say 20-year-old Omar James Amaya fled the scene after crashing into the pole in the 2700 block of Camelot Drive around 2:30pm Saturday. A shirtless Amaya was later found in a nearby creek and told police he was “crawfishing.” Police confirmed that the vehicle was registered to Amaya. They found beer inside the vehicle and an empty beer can outside the vehicle. Amaya failed a field sobriety test and was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. He was also booked on three counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, although the probable cause statement does not explain those charges. He was released on $4,000 bond.

A teenager is behind bars after accidental discharge of a firearm Saturday night at a Northgate bar. College Station Police on patrol in Northgate heard a shot come from the One15 club in the 100 block of College Main. 19-year-old Trey Lamar Wheeler, of Tyler, was located inside the club with a gun in his waistband. Reports say he had a second firearm that was misplaced inside the club prior to the shot being fired. The second firearm was eventually located and seized. Wheeler was charged with Public Intoxication, 2 counts of Unlawful Carry of a Weapon, 2 Counts of Unlawful Carry of a Weapon in a Prohibited Place, Deadly Conduct Discharge of a Firearm, Disorderly Conduct Discharge of a Firearm, and Failure to Identify Giving False/Fictitious Information. He is currently jailed on $20,000 bond. Bond has not yet been set on three of the eight charges. The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released as it becomes available.
