Brazos County District Court Criminal Case Updates

It’s been two and a half years since a Navasota man was arrested on a murder charge from a shooting in south Brazos County. While a trial date is set for June 23rd, 29 year old Brandon Richardson was arrested last week for violating conditions of his $20,000 dollar bond. Authorities say there was a crowd of more than 100 outside a bar south of Millican in October 2011 when shots were fired, killing Brice Bennett of Brenham. Richardson remains in jail after his bond was raised to $100,000. Prosecutors say the violations include initiating contact with members of Bennett’s family, being within 1,000 feet of family members in Navasota on four occasions this year, and not paying the cost of wearing a GPS monitor, which has topped $7,700 dollars.

Last August, four College Station schools were on lockdown as part of an eight hour search for three people accused of stealing 47 thousand dollars of jewelry in a home burglary. Two of the three from Houston have entered plea agreements in Brazos County District Court. 27 year old Eduardo Neiva-Orejuala was sentenced to ten years, and 28 year old Richard Castillo-Rivas was sentenced to three years. There are also immigration holds on the pair, who were caught after a College Station police officer stopped them for speeding in a school zone near Rock Prairie elementary.
