FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) _ The body of a north Texas missing judicial candidate missing since Friday has been recovered from a lake where he had been fishing.
Tom Zachry had been missing since his fishing boat capsized on Aquilla Lake, about 65 miles south of Fort Worth.
Hill County emergency management coordinator Tom Hemrick tells the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that Zachry’s body was recovered just before 10 a.m. Tuesday after state game wardens using sonar located the body.
The 66-year-old Fort Worth lawyer had won the Republican primary for the judgeship of the 432nd District Court in Tarrant County earlier this month. Democrats haven’t put forth a candidate for the general election in November, and Zachry had been expected to take the office.
