College Station ISD school board members award a contract for more than $8 million dollars in renovating the baseball and softball fields at Consolidated and College Station high schools.
Facilities director Paul Buckner says the project, approved by voters in the May 2024, includes the base bid and ten alternates.
The base bid includes replacing grass fields with artificial turf.
The alternates includes upgrading batting cages and replacing backstop netting. WTAW News has asked CSISD for the complete list of alternate bids that were awarded.
Buckner says construction begins after the teams finish their next season.
The contract that was awarded was $83,000 dollars over budget. Buckner added that the contract includes $300,000 in contingencies that he expects a significant portion will not be spent.
