You Don’t Have To Pay To File A Homestead Property Tax Exemption

The Brazos County Appraisal District office has been receiving calls from homeowners who have received letters in the mail from solicitors offering to file their homestead application for a fee.

Chief Appraiser Mark Price says there is no charge to file a homestead exemption application with the appraisal district.

Homestead applications are available on the BCAD website, by visiting the BCAD office, or going to the Texas Comptroller’s website at https://comptroller.texas.gov and enter Homestead Exemption in the search box.

Price also welcomes anyone with questions to call the BCAD office at 979-774-4100.
