Yates Named Co-SEC Golfer of the Week

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M senior Greg Yates has been named Co-SEC Golfer of the Week by the league office.

The Mansfield, Texas, native captured his third collegiate win on Tuesday at the Valspar Collegiate held at Floridian Golf Club, ending the 54-hole event atop the 73-player field. Yates (67-67-67=201) piled up a tournament-leading 22 birdies to lead the Aggies and finish atop the player standings at 12-under par.

During his four-year Aggie career, Yates had previously claimed medalist honors at the 2014 Sea Best Invitational as a junior and the 2011 HBU Men’s Intercollegiate during his freshman campaign.

For the season, Yates owns a 72.19 scoring average with three top-10 finishes.

Georgia’s Lee McCoy shared Golfer of the Week honors with Yates after earning medalist honors at the Linger Longer Invitational.

The Aggie men’s golf team is back in action next weekend when it hosts its lone home tournament of the year, the Aggie Invitational at Traditions Golf Club.
