Wreaths Across America (WAA) is celebrating 25 years of honoring fallen soldiers by placing wreaths on their graves in the month of December.
Their mission is to “Remember the fallen. Honor those who serve and their families, and Teach the future generations about the sacrifices made to preserve our freedoms.”
Last year was the first year a WAA ceremony was held in the twin cities, and through generous donations, volunteers placed wreaths on the graves at the Aggie Field of Honor.
Ellen Fuller, volunteer co-chair, says they have expanded to more local cemeteries and all seven surrounding Brazos Valley counties.
“The government doesn’t provide these wreaths, they are personally sponsored by individuals,” said Fuller.
In 2015, more than 901,000 wreaths were placed at 1,108 locations.
This year’s National Wreaths Across America Day is Saturday, December 17.
