Women’s Golf in Contention for NCAA Finals Berth After One Round

BRYAN- The sixth-seeded Texas A&M women’s golf team sits in a seventh after the first of three rounds of the 2016 NCAA Bryan Regional at Traditions Club on Thursday. The top six teams after three rounds advance to the 2016 NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore.

Texas A&M shot a 4-over 292 to finish the first round in seventh place, but sits just two shots behind Miami (Fla.) for sixth.

The Aggies were led by Bianca Fabrizio, who shot a 1-under 71 and sits in 14thplace. Maddie Szeryk and Callie Scheffler both shot 1-over 73s and are tied for 27th place. Scheffler has shot 73-or-better in each of her last three tournament rounds at the Aggies’ par 72 / 6,373 yard home course.

Andrea Jonama shot a 3-over 75 to tie for 47th, and Thanya Pattamakijsakulshot a 6-over 78 to tie for 71st.

Bianca Pagdanganan of Gonzaga leads the tournament with a first-round 5-under 67. Georgia and Arizona co-lead the team competition with a 3-under 285.

The Aggies return to action at 8 a.m. on Friday for the second of three rounds at the NCAA Bryan Regional off of hole No. 1.
