Women’s Golf Advances to NCAA Championships for Sixth Time in Eight Years

SAN ANTONIO- The No. 11 Texas A&M women’s golf team clinched their sixth NCAA Championship finals appearance in eight years with a fourth place finish in the NCAA San Antonio Regional at Briggs Ranch Golf Club. The Aggies, by securing a top six finish at the event, advance to the NCAA Championships in Bradenton, Fla. from May 22-27.

“It is a tremendous accomplishment to reach nationals,” said Texas A&M head coach Trelle McCombs. “I am proud of how hard the girls worked to reach the national championships, and to continue their work towards a national championship.”

The Aggies shot a 853 (-11) for the tournament, the lowest total for A&M in an NCAA Tournament event and the third-lowest 54-hole score in A&M women’s golf history—trailing only the Alamo Invitational in October on the same Briggs Ranch Golf Course, and the 2015 SEC Championship, won by Texas A&M.
