Woman Identified As The Person Found Dead In A Fire Damaged College Station Apartment

A College Station woman has been identified as the person who was found dead Tuesday morning in an apartment that caught fire.

The news release from College Station police did not include the cause of death of 25 year old Sarah May Clark, or if her death was related in any way to the fire.

Lt. Craig Anderson says investigators have so far not found any evidence that a crime was committed.

The news release went on to state that whatever happened is an isolated occurrence and there is no danger to the public.

Also absent from the release is if investigators have determined a cause to the fire that displaced six residents and resulted in minor injuries to one firefighter.

Tuesday afternoon update:

College Station police announce the body of a deceased person was found in a fire damaged apartment Tuesday morning.

CSPD is in the process of contacting the family of the person who died.

Lt. Craig Anderson said he could not reveal the gender of the victim or if they were an adult or a child.

Anyone with information about the fire at Willowick (also known as The Wick) apartments is asked to call CSPD at 979-764-3600.

One of more than 40 firefighters at the scene was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

College Station police news release:

On Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at approximately 9:09 AM, Officers with the College Station Police Department were dispatched to 430 Southwest Parkway, Willowick Apartments, in College Station in reference to an agency assist, regarding a fire inside one of the apartments.

Officers arrived on scene to assist fire department personnel, and when the fire was extinguished, officers were advised that there was a deceased person inside of the apartment.

Officers secured the apartment and notified detectives and crime scene personnel.

Detectives are investigating to determine the cause of the incident.

The name of the deceased person is not being released, pending family notification.

Updates will be forthcoming as the investigation allows.

College Station firefighters spent part of Tuesday morning at an apartment complex along Southwest Parkway between Welsh and Wellborn.

One firefighter was transported to the hospital with minor injuries from the fire at The Wick Apartments.

According to CSFD tweets, six residents were displaced and it took about 90 minutes using more than 40 firefighters to extinguish the fire.

CSFD reports more information about what happened will come from police.
