Man Arrested After Shoplifting Cooler and Beer From Walmart

A Caldwell man was arrested after shoplifting from the West Bryan Walmart.

Bryan Police say they were called to the Walmart at 643 N. Harvey Mitchell Parkway on August 6, 2026. The Asset Protection team says the man exited the store through the auto care center without paying for the merchandise.

55-year-old Edward John Seydler told police that he placed the items in the trunk of the car and was going to pay for them when he was done getting an oil change.

Items included:

  • (2) scooters ($79.96)
  • TS5 Lasertag ($29.97)
  • RTIC 20-can soft cooler ($99.00)
  • Scrubblade windshield wipers ($45.94)
  • (1) Case of Natural Light Beer ($13.47)
  • Toy Story toy ($9.97)
  • unsalted butter ($4.46)
  • sausage patties (4.97)
  • cheddar link sausage ($3.46)

The total of the items before tax was $291.20. Seydler was arrested for Theft of Property greater than $100, but less than $750 and booked into the Brazos County Jail. He is currently out on $4,000 bond.
