MCALLEN, Texas (AP) _ A Florida woman accused of kidnapping her two sons awaits extradition after federal border agents detained the woman at a South Texas international bridge.
Meanwhile, the two sons of Iris Sandoval have been turned over to Texas Child Protective Services.
A spokesman for U.S. Customs and Border Protection says the Gibsonton, Fla., woman was stopped Monday at the Hidalgo International Bridge, near McAllen.
He says the stop came after a database revealed the November 2008 warrant from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office in Florida accusing her of kidnapping her 7- and 8-year-old sons.
Sandoval was being held at the Hidalgo County Jail in Edinburg awaiting extradition to Florida.
