

The negotiating continues in Washington and contingency plans are being made if the federal government runs out of money. Congressman Bill Flores (R-Bryan) says the latest proposal in the House would do two things.

Some federal festivities could be delayed if the government shuts down. One has a local impact. That’s next Tuesday, on the 30th anniversary of the first space shuttle launch. Where will the shuttles wind up once the program winds down? The Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History is among 21 museums and science and visitor centers around the country are vying for one of NASA’s three retiring spaceships. We’re supposed to find out Tuesday who gets a retired shuttle. NASA Administrator Charles Bolden Jr. is making the final decision. He’ll announce the winners while marking the 30-year shuttle anniversary at Kennedy Space Center in Florida….unless Congress and the President have not acted on keeping the federal government operating.
