SAN ANTONIO (AP) _ Democratic challenger Bill White says Gov. Rick Perry is being dismissive of budget shortfall projections of $18 billion by amounting them to “Ouija board” estimates.
White appeared Wednesday in San Antonio, a day after Perry told supporters in Midland that it remains too early to know how big a shortfall the Legislature will face when the session begins in January.
The Midland Reporter-Telegram quoted Perry as saying that it was premature to be consulting crystal balls, Ouija boards or “whatever these people are using” in making budget estimates.
The state budget shortfall will be the driving force behind almost every decision the Legislature makes when it convenes in January.
