LITTLEFIELD, Texas (AP) _ Officials say two men accused in the bludgeoning death of a housemate were unable to lift the 250-pound man’s corpse into a car to take it elsewhere.
So West Texas authorities say the men tied the corpse of 52-year-old Ronald Gordon Bures to the back of a car and dragged it for nearly four miles.
Authorities on Tuesday were working to confirm the victim’s name. Lamb County Sheriff Gary Maddox says he was hit in the face numerous times with different objects and was dead before his ankles were bound with an air pressure hose. Maddox says his corpse was tied to the back of a 1984 car and dragged.
Maddox says one of his housemates is “really small” and the other weighs about 190 pounds.
Accused in the deaths are Mickey Dale Birchfield, who’s 51, and 53-year-old Bradford Stanley Halderman. Both remain in the Lamb County Jail with bonds set at $50,000 each.
