The College Station City Council remains firm that there won’t be a vote on the possible incorporation of the Wellborn community.
That’s after four speakers at Thursday’s council meeting repeated their belief that the petition signed by College Station residents to let College Station voters decide whether Wellborn can vote is valid. Two who spoke were College Station residents who collected signatures.
City Secretary Connie Hooks repeated her opinion that petition signatures collected in College Station were invalid. Mayor Nancy Berry said no further action was required and added she planned to schedule another meeting with Citizens For Wellborn after the council completes a retreat next week.
Two other matters involving Wellborn were part of the council meeting. Staff pulled from the agenda a proposed settlement in an ongoing lawsuit involving the Wellborn Water District. And three parcels of land were annexed, two requested by private property owners and the third from the College Station schools where Greens Prairie Elementary is being built.
