Weekend Review of Local Criminal Activity

Property damage caused by BB gun shots and smearing shoe polish make up the 18 criminal mischief cases reported to Bryan police on Saturday. Seven cases came from The Grove apartments on east 29th, where polish was smeared on vehicles and/or buildings.

Bryan police spent much of Saturday taking reports of nine more windows were shot or busted out. That included doors at two homes and seven vehicles in seven neighborhoods, located west of Texas and south of Highway 21.

An incident listed by Bryan police as criminal mischief involves a dog found dead Saturday afternoon from no apparent cause and is suspicious in nature.

Gunfire was heard during a disturbance Friday night just after 10 p.m. on East 24th just east of Texas. No one was hurt and there have been no arrests.

Weekend burglary reports included firearms taken from two unlocked vehicles in Bryan’s Park Hudson neighborhood.

Bryan police joined firefighters at the Farm Patch Saturday morning for what’s been listed as an arson, involving a fire of unknown origin that was found in a bathroom trash can.

College Station police officers were sent to four aggravated assault calls on Saturday where no arrests were made. Two were Saturday night during a three hour period at the University Park apartments off Southwest Parkway. One man received hospital treatment after he was struck with a glass a bottle, and another had a pocketknife held to his throat. And police were sent twice in less than 40 minutes Saturday afternoon to a home on Normand Drive. Three family members who were not injured told officers they did not want to pursue charges.

A case of mistaken identity may have led to an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon Sunday morning. According to College Station police, a man left the Northgate area around 2 a.m. with three unknown people, heading to an unknown College Station address for a house party. Shortly after arriving, the victim was beaten for about an hour before a gun was placed to his head. The attackers then placed a bag on his head and dropped him off in a corn field. The victim said he spoke Russian at the party, and believes someone may have thought he was a Russian spy. Despite having multiple injuries, the victim declined medical attention.
