What’s the value of an Aggie ring? For a local Justice of the Peace, it’s $50,000. That’s the bond set by JP George Boyett to ensure someone will return to court on a charge of stealing a ring last weekend. 19 year old Thomas Slauter of College Station is accused of taking the ring off another student during a inter-fraternity event Saturday morning then tossing it in the grassy area near the Administration Building. Lt. Ben Crenshaw of the University Police Department says the ring was found Sunday with the help of 20 of the owners friends. Slauter was able to post the $50,000 bond Sunday and was freed from jail pending his next court appearance.
Getting out of jail was less expensive for two Houston area woman accused of using an altered Florida driver’s license and a stolen credit card to buy over $15,000 of jewelry from the mall. Bonds were set at $15,000 and $20,000 dollars for Tyeshia Trayham and Danita Colbert, both 27 years old.
