Voices for Children is recruiting court appointed special advocates, or CASA volunteers.
Kristi Lester, Recruitment Coordinator, says CASAs represent neglected and/or abused children in the foster care system.
“It is someone who is specifically assigned to that child to make sure that in all avenues in their life, the child’s best interest is being met,” says Lester.
Lester says without a CASA, children might have to rely on a barrage of case workers, attorneys, and family members.
“We have so many foster kids that will tell us they’ve changed homes, they’ve changed schools, they have five different case workers, but they always knew they were going to see their CASA a couple of times a month,” says Lester.
Information sessions held on Zoom are scheduled for January 6th and 11th with volunteer training dates to follow later in the month.
