Vietnam Memorial Wall Comes to B/CS

The Museum of the American G.I. is continuing Veterans Day celebrations through the weekend.

The event, Lest We Forget, is in collaboration with the American Veterans Travelling Tribute, which is bringing an 80% replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C.

Spokeswoman Emily Mullins said it features all the names of the men and women who died during the Vietnam conflict. Mullins said this one differs from memorials which list the names alphabetically.

“This one actually presents the names in the order that they died or went missing in action during the war, so it really speaks to a lot of people because it kind of brings about the chaos and the difficulties of that particular conflict,” said Mullins.

Mullins said volunteers will be on hand with a database to help people find names on the wall.

Events include keynote speaker, Bill Youngkin, performances by the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band and the Texas A&M Ross Volunteers.

There will also be a gun salute by the Ross Volunteers and a wreath will be placed in memory of area veterans.

Attendance is free and the exhibit will be open 24 hours a day, November 12-15.
