College Station City Council Rejects Proposals From Companies Interested In Building A Power Plant

The College Station city council rejects seven proposals from companies interested in building a power plant fueled by natural gas. Electric utility director Timothy Crabb told the council during last Thursday’s meeting (September 26) that funding could have come from a $5 billion dollar state grant. Crabb said the bids expired while the city was looking for a location to build the plant. Then Crabb told councilman Bob Yancy “We’re still looking at future needs for electric power and we’re looking at various options on that” and that “generation (of power) has always been a thought.” Click HERE to read and download background information from the September 26, 2024 College Station city council meeting. College Station Man Arrested On Charges From College Station Police And Robertson County

College Station police responding to a disturbance where neighbors heard screaming and crashing arrest a man on charges from Brazos and Robertson counties. The CSPD arrest report says it took four officers to remove 36 year old Bruce Meredith of College Station from the home. Meredith was charged with violating a protection order in a family violence assault case where is awaiting trial from the February 2024 incident. He was also jailed on two warrants from Robertson County. One warrant is for continuous sexual abuse of a young child or elderly person. The other warrant is for aggravated sexual assault. Meredith remains jailed as of October 1st on bonds on all charges totaling $540,000 dollars.

Bryan ISD School Board Approves This Year’s Health Insurance Plans And Rates After Discussing Millions In Claims From One Provider

Bryan ISD school board members at its last meeting (September 23) approve this year’s health insurance plans and rates. The district’s share of the cost rose six percent, while premiums for BISD employees increased three percent. Before the board’s unanimous vote, was discussion about one unidentified free standing emergency room billing Bryan ISD almost $21 million dollars in the last three years.
