UPDATE With Union Pacific Railroad Comments After A Train Struck A Car In College Station

Union Pacific railroad reminds drivers to not attempt to cross tracks unless they are certain they can get all the way across.

That’s after a car that didn’t clear the tracks was struck by a train Wednesday afternoon that closed two intersections in College Station.

The driver of the car and no one on the train was injured in the collision that took place at George Bush and Wellborn, and also blocked traffic at Holleman and Wellborn.

The collision took place about 4:30 p.m. CSPD tweeted the intersections reopened just after 8 p.m.

The driver of the car has or is going to receive a citation.

College Station police and fire responded Wednesday afternoon to a car that was struck by a train on George Bush Drive near Wellborn Road.

CSPD reports no one was injured.

The car was stopped on the tracks when it was struck by the southbound Union Pacific train.

The collision also blocked traffic at Wellborn and Holleman, due to the length of the train.
