Tuesday morning update:

More information is known about Monday’s shooting death of a College Station man and wounding of a Bryan woman.

According to the arrest report from the Brazos County sheriff’s office, 46 year old Kevin Pullen of Bryan told deputies he intended to kill 37 year old Shay Lackey.

Pullen said he stole a shotgun from a friend. Then he got in his pickup and started following Lackey, who was riding in a car driven by 27 year old Tiffany Sterling.

Investigators say Pullen and Sterling had a prior relationship.

According to the arrest report, the two vehicles were headed west on Highway 21 near Fazzino Lane…between Highway 47 and OSR…when Pullen said Sterling braked and that caused his truck to rear end Sterling’s car.

After both vehicles stopped on the side of the road, Pullen said he and Lackey both got out, and Pullen fired one shot, hitting Lackey.

Then Pullen said he walked around the car with the intent to to talk with Sterling. Pullen said when he attempted to open the driver’s door, the shotgun touched the window and a round fired, hitting Sterling in the left arm.

Pullen said when he started first aid on Sterling, he saw Lackey moving away…over a fence and into a field. Pullen said he picked up his gun and shot Lackey a second time.

Deputies reported after they arrived, Pullen was still there and he immediately surrendered.

Sterling was flown to the hospital where she underwent surgery for what was described as non-life threatening injuries.

Pullen is in the Brazos County jail on bonds totaling $700,000 dollars on charges of murder, family related aggravated assault with a weapon, and tossing three spent shells about 30 yards into a grassy field.

Original story:

One person is dead and a second person is hospitalized after they were shot west of Bryan Monday afternoon.

Brazos County sheriff Chris Kirk says a man who shot the man and woman is in custody.

No identities have been released, but the sheriff said all three knew each other.

The shooting followed a crash involving the shooter’s truck and the victim’s car, both going west on Highway 21 and located west of Highway 47.

Kirk says DPS troopers are assisting with the investigation of the collision that preceded the shooting.

The sheriff says the victims were shot as they fled the site of the crash.
