Update on Redrawing Bryan ISD Attendance Zones

The Bryan school board continues down the road to realign attendance zones by next May, to give parents a year to prepare when they take affect in the fall of 2017.

The realignment is the result of elementary schools going through fourth grade, adding fifth and sixth grade intermediate buildings, and changing middle schools to seventh and eighth grades.

Assistant superintendent Amy Drozd says they recently sent this fall’s enrollment information to their demographer…who will present a report next month.

Drozd says small groups will start meeting in December. The members, who have not been selected, will represent a broad cross-section from parts of town and grade levels. The composition will include, according to a district spokesman, parents, teachers, city, business, community and more.

Drozd says the small group meetings will continue into January, then they will combine for a collective gathering.

Large group meetings are targeted in February, March, and April; leading to a recommendation to the school board next May.
