UPDATE: Fatality Crash Closes Highway 30 Near Carlos

Update:

A head on crash that closed Highway 30 west of Carlos Tuesday for more than five hours killed a woman from Marble Falls and injured a man from Waller.

DPS investigators were told a westbound car driven by 20 year old Amanda Irish was passing in a no passing zone when it struck an eastbound F-350 pickup truck.

Irish died at the scene. The driver of the truck, 24 year old Austin Tottingham, was taken to a Bryan hospital for treatment of non life threatening injuries.

The crash, which was reported just after 8 a.m., closed Highway 30 until 1:40 p.m.

Highway 30 near Carlos is shut down due to a fatality crash.

DPS Sgt. Jimmy Morgan said the collision of a car and a F-350 pickup took place shortly after 8 a.m. on Highway 30 east of Grimes County road 190.

As of 10:30 a.m., Morgan says Highway 30 is expected to be closed for another couple of hours.

The driver of the pickup, which was pulling an empty gooseneck trailer, was taken to a Bryan hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
