UPDATE: CS Police Investigate Crash on Wellborn Road

Update from College Station police:

On February 12, 2015 at approximately 0852 hrs, officers with the College Station Police Department responded to the intersection of Wellborn Road (FM 2154) and Capstone Drive in regards to a report of a major crash at that location. Upon arrival officers found two vehicles involved and due to the damage to the vehicles both north and southbound traffic on Wellborn Road had to be diverted for a period of time. Initial investigation at the scene revealed the following information.

A 2013 Toyota Venza driven by a 34 year old College Station woman was southbound on Wellborn Road. As the Venza approached Capstone Drive, a 1995 Ford Escort driven by a 30 year old College Station male began to turn left (northbound) onto Wellborn Road and pulled into the path of the Venza resulting in the Venza striking the Escort in the driver side door. Due to the damage caused by the crash, the driver of the Escort had to be extricated by members of the College Station Fire Department. After being removed from the vehicle the driver was transported to a local medical facility for treatment of incapacitating injuries. The driver of the Venza did not report any injuries and was not transported.

The driver of the Ford Escort was cited for Failure to Yield Right of Way (Turning Left) and traffic on Wellborn Road was diverted for approximately 1 hour while the driver was attended to and the scene was cleared.

Upon arrival officers found two vehicles involved and due to the damage to the vehicles both north and southbound traffic on Wellborn Road had to be diverted for a period of time. Initial investigation at the scene revealed the following information.
