Approaching six years ago, Pappadeaux’s restaurants announced coming to College Station. The city’s economic development director, Natalie Ruiz, says that’s still the number one question she is asked. And the answer is still yes.
Ruiz, speaking on a College Station city podcast, says land is being sold at the southeast corner of the freeway and William D. Fitch…where there have been rumors of another Target.
Ruiz says the new owner of Gander Mountain is negotiating a new lease to remain next to the old Academy store…which she says there is interest in leasing the recently vacated building.

You may have lived in the twin cities long enough to know there were at one time, three Albertson’s grocery stores in College Station. The city’s economic development director, Natalie Ruiz, reported during a recently produced city podcast about future uses of the vacant buildings. She says it might be eight years before the former Albertson’s at University and Tarrow is developed…due to H-E-B getting the lease when it acquired Albertson’s assets. The owner of the former Albertson’s near Northgate has started a think tank about the future use of that property. The only active development is the former Albertson’s next to Wal-Mart, where part of the building has been turned into a soon to open trampoline park.
