Original story:
A pedestrian was hit by an accused intoxicated driver early Saturday morning at Texas and University.
The victim underwent trauma surgery for multiple fractures and internal injuries.
The 17 year old driver, who is also accused of leaving the scene without rendering aid, is in the Brazos County jail for the third time in seven months.
College Station police found Pedro Damion Puga in the parking lot of the Tejas Center in Bryan, where he was caught following a short foot chase.
According to the arrest report, Puga told the officer he was not involved in an accident, and he would have not been caught had he not taken Xanax and cocaine earlier in the night. The officer also noticed alcohol on Puga’s breath.
The pedestrian was struck just after 2 a.m. Saturday. CSPD announced all lanes of the intersection reopened to traffic seven hours later.
Puga was jailed and held without bond on charges of intoxication assault causing serious bodily injury and evading arrest.
