Unconscious Doberman Rescued in CS House FIre

College Station firefighters are investigating a Friday afternoon house fire west of Creek View Elementary School.

Spokesman Bart Humphreys says none of the three renters living at 608 Hartford Drive were home.

But a neighbor said a Doberman was in the house. The dog was found unconscious but regained consciousness after it was given oxygen. The dog was transported to a veternarian.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.

The first engine arrived two minutes after the call was received. Firefighters reported heavy smoke coming from a front room, which turned out to be a bedroom.

Humphreys says fire damage was limited to that bedroom and the attic space directly above. There was smoke and water damage elsewhere in the single-family home.

The fire was under control 38 minutes after the call. Humphreys said no neighboring homes were damaged, despite a threat due to strong winds and dry vegetation.

No firefighters were injured. A total of ten fire department units, staffed by 29 personnel, responded to this incident. They were assisted by several College Station police officers and a crew from College Station Utilities.

Humphreys says the three renters are staying with friends.
