TxDOT Update On FM 60 Projects

The light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter for motorists navigating the new diverging interchange near Easterwood Airport. Bob Colwell at the TxDOT district office in Bryan reports multiple contractors are coordinating work that includes pavers, rails, painting, and pedestrian controls. The hope is to have permanent traffic signals operating this month and completion…weather permitting…around the beginning of summer.

West of there, a WTAW listener who commutes between Brenham and the twin cities texted us (979-695-1620 is WTAW’s text number), asking about the status of widening FM 60 between Snook and Lyons because nothing has happened since land was cleared. Colwell reports there was one contract specifically for clearing right of way. TxDOT is still seeking money to build the new highway. And TxDOT is working with the Army Corps of Engineers to complete the wetland permit process that is also required.
