A two year, $8.5 million dollar highway project is underway in Robertson County.
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) says the first phase is adding a center turn lane on Highway 79 west of the Franklin Safari Park…which has been the site of multiple crashes. The widening of 79 between Buna Road and Bishopville Road is expected to be completed in January.
Once the Highway 79 work is done, TxDOT’s contractor will move to Highway 6 between Hearne and Benchley for improvements that are also designed to reduce the number of wrecks. That project, which will add right turn lanes at the intersections of Highway 6 and Robertson County roads along with resurfacing the highway, will take until the fall of the year 2020 to be completed.
